With the number of smart phone users rising, the application of location based mobile services is widely seen as a new frontier in consumer marketing. There are several useful location based mobile applications:
Foursquare - Foursquare combines the community features of a good location based social network, with the competitive features of a scavenger hunt on steroids. Gowalla - Gowalla helps people keep up with their friends, share their favorite places, and discover the world around them.

Buzzd - Buzzd is a real time social city guide for your mobile device. Users rate places with a thumbs up or down, post venue reviews and connect with friends in the area.
